Each day is different in each place although in Loreto resulted that are similar especially Sundays. Loreto’s downtown is located in the center of Loreto. It is between Independencia Ave. and Enrique Estrada Ave., which are the principal streets. When you arrive to Loreto on Sunday, people move from one side to the other and same things happen all the time.
When you set foot in Loreto’s downtown you can find it because it is an exceptional garden in Loreto. As I said, it is a garden which has four flower stands with beautiful green grass in which you can set and spend a lot of time there. Also, the roses that are in the flower stands are of various colors like red, pink, white, or yellow. The flower stands are located around the esplanade that is in the middle. It is a kind of theater in which people present programs of folklore dance, speeches, people who are singer or comedian, and other things. The esplanade is a middle moon form with two fountains on each side. In addition, around downtown are some coffee shops, ice cream shops, and store of shoes. People stay or pass by downtown only to visit it.
At night, when the people leave the church that is near there, they arrive to downtown and they sit in the flower stands. You can hear when some people are talking about boys or girls, school, maybe of problems, and others are lauding. Also, the noise when they moving the cup of coffee or taking the change. In addition, when the trees are moving with the wind you can hear the singing of the swallows. On the other hand, the things that you can hear are related to what you smell. You can smell the penetrating smell of food like tamales of red or green chili, tacos with onion, bitter coffee, etc. It does not matter if you are far from downtown you can smell the delicious food that is there, that makes your mouth water.
Other thing that you can see is what people do. As I said before, people go to downtown to sit there and start to talk with someone that they know or may be want to know. Also, you look on the other side and see how the seller pay attention what the customer say, you look people buy food or ice-cream. In addition, other people are walking around downtown without do anything. They are talking too and carry in their hands food which there is eating at the same time. Likewise, other watches the program that is presented in the esplanade.
I had not been in Loreto for a long time, but last weekend I visited. And I saw that some things are the same; even people that walking around without do anything. I felt comfortable when I sat in the flower stand that is near of the esplanade and the wind involved me with the smell of the food of tacos. In that moment, I remembered when I did the same thing that the other people. Also, I bought an ice-cream and I walked around downtown. Nowadays, in Loreto’s downtown on Sundays is the same, because people and their traditions are still there, people do what they want to do without any modification.
